Movie Reviews of the Month

#1 The Hunger Games

I didn't read the novels before i watched this movie. I only knew that it's a story about survival. I like the second half part of the movie where the arena starts. As for the first half, the tempo was a bit slow and i could see Nic-chan yawning ^^" There was one scene about Katniss falling in love with Peeta, I thought it was true. But when i went home after the movie and read about the summary of the story, Katniss is actually just pretending to fall in love with Peeta so that people can have sympathy towards them and consequently, they will get medicines from the sponsors. So i didn't know if it was the movie which didn't state that clearly or it was me who didn't pay much attention to that part. Overall, it's quite a nice movie. I'll definitely watch "Catching fire" and "Mockingjay" in the future =)

#2 Avengers

I watched this last night. You'll be expecting a plot about how the heros save the day. So basically the story line is nothing new. In fact, it's somehow similar to the story line of transformer 3. Anyway, I did enjoy the graphic effects, the fighting scenes and some humorous conversations between the heros. I won't be a spoiler here because some people might love this kind of movies.

Database oh Database

I have been working on an online catalogue group project for the 'IT tools for knowledge workers' course. Just managed to deal with the layouts and all that but database stopped me from moving forward. With just the basic knowledge of IT, my group members and I are having trouble creating database for the member login system and the cart system =/ It's not as easy as it seems.

We are the shopkeepers wannabe of the jewellery online shop named 'Four Seasons'. And of course, we aren't really selling those stuffs.

This is the homepage of our shop. The little banner behind the shop name is actually animated. The seasons will change =3 Pictures of the jewellery were taken from Google image. I enjoy designing the layout much ♥ Software used for creating HTML is Dreamweaver whereas software used for designing the layouts are firework and photoshop.

☆ The Secret Country Event ☆

From the name of the event, i couldn't get much of the image. But when i saw the default background, I was like O.O✦. And when i saw the other two backgrounds, i was like O.O✦✦✦ if you know what i mean =D Really, i didn't expect something as nice as this. This event is magical, lyrical, beautiful (no, i'm not Selena Gomez's fan).

The default background. You need to unlock the doors into different countries. So keys are definitely important =D Anyway, does this background look familiar to you? It reminds me of Alice in the Wonderland.

I bought the black key first so it brought my poupee, Pigleto to the moon country or the night time country or whatever you may call it. The clock, Ferris wheel, merry-go-round and little globe are actually animated. I couldn't stop myself from buying the new outfits. Love them ♥♥♥ 

Few days later, i finally bought another set of outfit (except the jacket). And Pigleto traveled to the sun country or the day time country. There's a great contrast between these two backgrounds with different feel as well. Which country do you like more?

I want this event to last longer, i can't stop admiring those backgrounds ~

Penguin's Birthday

We celebrated Penguin's birthday on last Saturday, 7th of April to be specific. Actually her birthday is on the 6th but 7th was the only day which we could gather together during that week. It feels great to be able to see Penguin and Panda again.

Panda and I chose a chocolate cheese cake because Penguin loves them.

The long and thin candles were bought by Panda. A little of sparkles could be seen after lighting them but then my camera missed that moment.

After making wishes and blowing candles, it was nom nom time =D There are "tubes" of chocolate in the middle layer. The cake is nice, with the chocolate layer which is smooth and will melt in the mouth whereas the cheese layer which is neither too salty nor too sweet. That is exactly what i prefer.

Panda supposed to be staying at UK until she graduated from her studies (around September) but then something really bad happened to her dad (the worst thing which you can imagine). She had to flew all the way home. I feel bad for not being with her or even at least, give her a hug during that day （ つ﹏╰） However, i am glad that after several weeks, she could finally go out with us and knowing that she is slowly doing well. She was not reluctant to talk about it but i guess she just did not want us to worry. We gradually changed the topic to the working life of Penguin. And then out of nowhere, we talked about travelling. Although we are the besties from secondary school (that includes Pinkie who is currently studying at other city), we never had a chance to travel together out of the town, not even once. So we made a promise that someday we will go for trips with just the three or four of us (if Pinkie returns to town).

We made a..some kind of like a mini contract with a piece of free napkin which the cafe provides =D Panda draws very well and plus she will be the future graphic designer so we pushed the drawing part to her.

The outcome with the cute doodles and our signatures on it ^^ The places which we plan to go together: Taiwan (suggested by Penguin), Japan (suggested by Panda) and Europe (suggested by me). 

I will be waiting for that day to come =)

Colourful World

It was good Friday so my mid semester break started off earlier. My holiday mode was switched on before the holiday even started. I asked Nic-chan out and i think we had not been seeing each other for one and a half month? We went for a movie: "Hunger games" and i am going to write a simple review about it on a separate post.

There are several booths at the north court of the mall selling sweet items because of Easter day and Kids' day.

There were crowds here and there and it was difficult to take nice photos of the entire view of north court =x So i had to give it a pass.

The Boy and the Apple Tree

I am going to share with you a short story which i had presented for the course of English for self expression with the aid of some simple drawings. We were given limited time for the story telling which cannot exceed 4 minutes. So i found a story here and the length of this story is just nice.

A long time ago, there was a huge apple tree.
A little boy loved to come and play around it every day.
He climbed to the treetop, ate the apples, took a nap under the shadow...

He loved the tree and the tree loved to play and talk with him.
Time went by...the little boy had grown up, he had grown into a teenager.
And he no longer played around the tree every day.

One day, the boy came back to the tree and he looked sad.
"Come and play with me,” the tree asked the boy.
"I am no longer a kid, I do not play around trees anymore" The boy replied.
"I want toys. I need money to buy them. Can you give me some money?"
"Sorry, but I do not have money...
But you can pick all my apples and sell them. So, you will have money."
The boy was so excited.
He grabbed all the apples on the tree and left happily.
The boy never came back after he picked the apples.
The tree was sad.

One day, the boy who now turned into a man returned to the tree
And the tree was excited "Come and talk to me, I feel lonely" the tree said.
"I do not have time for that. I have to work for my family.
We need a house for shelter. Can you help me? "
" Sorry, I do not have any house. But you can chop off my branches
To build your house."
So the man cut all the branches of the tree and left happily.
The tree was glad to see him happy but the man never came back since then.
The tree was again lonely and sad.

One hot summer day,
The man returned and the tree was delighted.
"Can we have a little chat?" the tree said.
"I am getting old. I want to go sailing to relax myself. Can you give me a boat?" asked the man.
"Use my trunk to build your boat. You can sail far away and be happy."
So the man cut the tree trunk to make a boat.
He went sailing and never showed up for a long time.

Finally, the man returned after many years and he is now an old man.

"Sorry, my boy. But I do not have anything for you anymore.

No more apples for you..." The tree said sadly.

"No problem, I do not have any teeth to bite" The man replied.

"No more trunk for you to climb on"

"I am too old for that now" the man said.

"I really cannot give you anything...

The only thing left is my dying root,”

The tree said with tears.

"I do not need much now, just a place to rest.

I am tired after all these years" the man replied.

"Good! Old tree roots are the best place to lean on and rest,

Come, come sit down with me and rest."

The man sat down and the tree was glad and smiled with tears...

The boy/man/old man actually represents us and the apple tree represents our parents. The message which this story is trying to deliver is that most parents ("all" is not really that appropriate) will give their children unconditional love and they do not want much in return. But when children grow up, they will leave their parents to persue their dreams and to live their own lives. Parents long for their children to return to their side and accompany them but they rarely will mention about it. So the story is sad but true.

The lecturer was supposed to be giving us the marks for this presentation but then she did not. I guess she must have forgotten and non of us reminded her either ^^" Never mind, I will know it sooner or later ~

☆Cherry Blossom Viewing Event☆

This event was already over and i was late in posting because i was having wars with the midterm exam, fever, cough and flu. But now the wars had "temporarily" ended and to be continued next time.

Okay, now back to the main topic. Cherry blossom viewing event is what i was looking forward to this time around and it did not disappoint me.

New outfits, flowery lunch bag and food in sticks introduced into my poupee's closet.

New hat, purple dress, peach cardigan and ribbon strap sandles ❤

Uniform, necktie, box drink, books, socks and ribbons from the school girl catcher.

I was startled by the guy at the back of the tree at first because he looks like some kind of stalker. He was then being recognized as Ken. Well, i guess he was just too shy to show himself completely so i forgave him.

FOOD ! Yakitori, ikayaki (baked squid) and onigiri ^^

Hmmm..the next event will be..the fairy event? Or the rainy day event? I cannot remember. We'll see =3
